Allow me to introduce myself

Welcome to First Cry Photography and Doula Services. My name is Kendra, and I was born and raised in Carbondale and have always had a passion for birth. I have loved photography since junior high and began specializing in birth photography in 2016.
In 2017, I began working as a Certified Lactation Consultant at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where I still work night shift. In January of 2020 I trained with Doulas of North America, DONA,  to become a birth doula.
Since my first birth in 2016 I have had the honor of documenting over 40 sweet babe’s births, and have experienced the great sorrow of documenting several babes born sleeping.
It is my passion that through documenting birth and guiding mothers through labor that my clients look back and feel empowered through their journey. I have such a huge heart for capturing mothers in their most powerful form of themselves and being able to say “look what you did and can do, nothing can stop you.”

What Our Clients Are Saying

It’s taken me awhile to write this review and compile all of my thoughts. First off, Kendra is AMAZING. I originally sought her services mainly for photography not sure if I really “needed” a doula. Boyyyy was I wrong and I’m so thankful I went ahead with the doulatog package. Her doula services are priceless, making the photos more of an added bonus. After a rough final four weeks of pregnancy leading up to the 4 week early arrival of our baby girl, we couldn’t have done any of it without Kendra. She took time to educate us, advocate for us, and love on us every step of the way. She went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience through what felt like setbacks or changed plans. Without her I am not sure I would have been able to breastfeed my baby for various reasons. Then, after coming home the baby blues set in HARD. She came right over, stayed with us, held us, and loved on us in what felt like the biggest emotional rollercoaster of my life. Now, I feel blessed just to know Kendra and her heart and will cherish the way she cared for us forever.
